Ummmmm......not all consoles were sold at a loss....it's a commonly perpetrated myth. Sega was the first to sell consoles at a loss with the Sega Saturn and Dreamcast. Since Sony manufcatures all their console components in-house their production costs are significantly reduced (if you factor out initial capital expenditure for factories etc). From what i've heard, Sony are making a very tidy profit from each PS2 sold.

if you had to delete it to save space then how can you imply it wasn't big?

and big means either ungainly and awkward, for page scansion, or the posting of more than one or two decent sized images per page (for modem users' benefit).

Had to delete it from my dinky 5mb web space. Was full of crap. Since I have deleted it, I don't remember how big it was. Wish I still had to find out how big it was and if this is just more BS, or was proper concern for those with sad connections.

Those sad connection people are still around 90% of the internet users in the world. Most do not have the choice, exclusion of such people is not of any benefit to the internet community, and they often pay by the second or minute spent on-line, so waiting a minute or two for a picture to load is costing them money, whereas linking gives them the choice of what to spend their money on.

Nintendo was only losing $5 with there system but they just worked out a deal were they can start making GameCubes for only $99.
Last I heard (to anwer Ex Eleven / b0b 2.1 question), Microsoft report if they sale as many systems and software they want they will lose $700 million the first year, and $1 billion the next year. There goal for xbox was just to get in to the market. Xbox 2 and  online gaming is were there money going to be. BTW Microsoft didn't sale the amount xboxs and software they wanted to, so they problemly are losing more but maybe not (depends on how many systems they sale).

M$ not selling the amount of Xbox's they wanted??? That's a bit of an understatement. In the 9 MONTHS that Xbox has been in Japan they still havent sold off their initial shipment of 500,000 units. I think  their sales from february to october in japan totalled about 270,000 units. All you can do is laugh.
