My next generation console
preacher:
Well in my head I have designed the next generation video game console. It will fight the microsoft xbox on every front. The xbox2 will use DirectX for games, well my system would use OpenGL. The Xbox2 will use a microsoft OS, my system would use a linux based OS. It also would be like the original xbox, in that it would be a pc in console clothing, using current video cards such as the GeForceFX and 64bit AMD processing. Since it uses Linux, it can run the OS and games in a true 64bit environment for super speed. A built in hard drive, network card, and the ability to play dvd's, cd's, mp3's, and more, not to mention a built in web browser for searching the net. Hell throw in 802.11g support built in. Every game would have an online part to it for network play. PC based server software would be available so people could run servers off of their pc's. This would mean there would be no annual fees for games and the online game servers could be maintained as long as gamers had interest in the game, not when my company got sick of supporting it. My only problem is that the console would cost $1000+.

So Xbox2 will still have better graphics?

This is a feature that only nerds will give a shit about.

Microsoft is right. There is no innovation.

Why?

64-bit doesn't mean speed. The biggest difference is you're now able to address more memory. Having a 64-bit processor doesn't mean that things suddenly run "super fast". Learn things.

That way every game can be another stupid ass "arena" shooter.

That's a damn good idea... seriously.
