question on front mounted usb and firewire ports

(1/2) > >>

hnugz:
I ordered this case http://www.directron.com/1080amg.html which has front mounted usb and firewire on it.  The board I want to buy is this: http://www.tufshop.com/store/product913.html
MY question is, how do I make sure this board is going to be able to support the front mounted ports?  I emailed the tech guys at tufshop but I didn't completely understand what they meant.  Here is what they said:

"This board model from ASUS surely has the Firewire feature that you are interested in. However we need to make you aware that the 4 ports are present on Back I/O as also the 2 Firewire ports. Hence if at all you need to use your Front Panel ports you need to buy a additional connector plate for the USB and Firewire and connect it to the headers provided on the motherboard if any.

Though this is a aspect you will have to check in your motherboard manual."

What additional connector plate?  Where would this connector plate go?

Fett101:
The case should come with the necesarry cables to connect the USB to the proper pins on the Mobo(my friends antec certainly did), but you're outtta luck for firewire since that board doesn't seem to support it.

hnugz:
Well it says right here under the description:
IEEE 1394 (Deluxe Model)
IEEE 1394 interface provides high speed digital interface for audio / video appliances such as digital television, digital video camcorders, storage peripherals & other PC portable devices.

I am wanting the deluxe model.  The cables are there, but how do I know if the pins are there or not?

Fett101:
Ah. I missed that completely. I was looking at the bottomm fine print that said
"* Does not have Raid/Firewire as in Deluxe Version"

Asus seems to have 2 boards with the same exact name on thier site. Well then. The other one says it has the required pins.

Refalm should move this forum to the gneral stuff.
