i stand by nintendo. i am not going to get into why i think nintendo is better, or why sony sucks, none of that. i like all consoles (except of course, xbox), i just like nintendo more. i look forward to what they bring out in the next few years.

Well Caloom, Cartridges do as well for planned obsolescence too. 2 examples. Playstation 2 plays Playstation one games. Game Boy Advance plays Gameboy games. It all depends on the hardware they decide to use for the next system. Nintendo wouldn't make the GC with an optical drive and then add a cart slot and N64 compatibility. It's just inconvienent.

It doesnt really matter if cartriges cost more then disks because in the end the games still cost the same. N64 games didnt cost anymore then psx1 games did plus they couldnt be pirated.

Well.. I do have serveral N64 roms.. so. But still, I can't mash a cd of them into my N64 like I can my DC.

As for pricing. I don't remember what N64 games went for. this place says that they were up to $65, as compared to PS2 current top off at $50. $10-15 dollad dif.

Well, on a totally unusual thing im going to agree with foot (fart, feta whatever his name is).

I never liked nintendo till the GC cos i like the games the controllor and that "optical thing" they use as the media. I always hated cartridges and althou i loved sega back in the old MageDrive(Genesis) times i think cartridges are now old useless and yes pretty much obselete (minus the GameBoy). Think about it, how much can you fit on a cartridge compared to the "optical thing" and still want the console to be the same size? Yay check it out its the game cube, yup thats right 1metre cubed! Im actually borrowing a GC from my older half brother and i cant fight it, im totally addicted to Pikmin   .

BUT!!!!

I got a PSX in 97 and ive always loved it. and ive got a bit of a collection of games.

I got a ps2 in chrismas 2000 and that just blew my mind.

i still have a soft spot for SEGA cos i was introduced to gaming on the MegaDrive (yes i know im young yadda yadda yadda) actually does anyone know of a decent magadrive emulator for linux?? lol ive been missing the RF connector on my mega drive for years. id love to have a game of super hangon.

Either way, cartridges may have no load time and durability, they still have way less space and are way more expensive.

BTW. is whole call a company by some "offensive" name thing driving anyone else mad? Nan Tendo. $ony. M$. It always reminds me of this

They can actually hold more then an optical if you have lots of Address space, they should get like 64bit addressing because that would be like 4tb of possible space.

Really? A company wanting to make money? That's hard to believe. There's nothing wrong with that. What is wrong with that are the tactics used to make that money. Microsoft is in a class of their own when it comes to low down shenanigans.
Someone please remove this account. Thanks...
