I have just gravitated to the windows-free-individual level. I got Counter-Strike (yes I am very sad) working in WineX CVS 2.2.1 and it is running very nicely.
Bye Bye Windows  :D

I get a "connection refused" message when I try to log in to CVS and download the WineX CVS source from here:
http://www.transgaming.com/sources.php

Got any ideas?

[edit]
Actually it looks like the CVS server is unavailable at this time. I guess I'll have to try again later..

The instructions are on the page I linked above (after you scroll to the bottom and click "I Agree"). Or you can get the same instructions on the sourceforge site:

http://sourceforge.net/cvs/?group_id=17631

CVS is a versioning system. You probably have the "cvs" command installed on your system. Open a shell and type "cvs" and see if you get something. Problem is, the CVS site appears to be down right now.

Still getting a connection refused message. I can't even get to the cvs web server. I even tried it from another machine on another network. Maybe it'll have to wait until a weekday when someone fixes it (or can you get to it at this moment?).

Indeed it seems to be down, it was OK a few hours ago. Try after work tomorrow.

You'll have to ask Transgaming that question. They will let you just download it for $5/month. The instructions for downloading the CVS source are right here:

http://www.transgaming.com/sources.php

I don't see how it can be any easier. There is a README file in the "wine" subdirectory that is created after a successful CVS download. It has build/install instructions that amount to a single command.

It looks like you don't have GL installed. I was surprised that it compiled and installed without a single error or warning on my machine. But I think this is just as much crap as normal wine. But then I'm not a gamer so.... I ended up just deleting it. I don't have any Windows apps that I need to run anyway.
