I want to start a thread that helps noobs with the INS AND OUTS of installing programs. It would also help me...
I'm using Suse and fortunately the few programs that I wanted to add had RPMS.

But maybe you guys could post tips/faqs that most people should know that would help dealing with dependencies and such.

I don't have a particular program in mind...
