Which is the best Linux distro for me?

I want one that is easy to use, one of the best for video editing and other multimedia shit, and also internet.

I will try anything but Mandrake.

on a related subject. Is anyone willing to make a table, for which linuxs are best at what? something like:

name   | ease of use | music | video | publishing ...
redhat | *****5 star | ***   |  ***  | ***** ...

Just for an example...

I'm going to make a php page that will try to calculate it out for people.

http://www.distrowatch.com/

And download the applications you want and use em. If you ask me, it really doesn't matter what distro you use. Linux is Linux is Linux.

But some of them come with different things. I'm on dialup, I dont want to spend 4 hours downloading a program that I could have gotten with another distro. Different distros have different levels of user friendliness too, compare slackware with redhat.I wouldn't use lindows as a server, lindows is linux. just because they are all linux, doesn't make them equal.

But that can't be downloaded as a full distro, only as a Live Evaluation. That is practicly useless. Any Other ideas?

You know what the easy answer is just go out and get
RedHat 9

It's easy, (Mandrake's easier, and more similar To SuSE than is RH)

you've got tons of tech support on the web, most rpms out there are designed for RH, most knew, cutting edge stuff is rpm'ed for redhat first, let alone designed for RH first.

Good hardware support..........I take that back

I've used SuSE, RH7.3----9.0, mandrake 8. They have all been great for me asfar as hardware goes.

goto linuxiso.org
look around, see what there is to see, and click on the distro site links, they best describe themselves.  They will say weather they are designed for ease of use or to be used as a router on an old 386.

Well to tell u the truth I have got RH9 but I thought there might be something out there that might be better for Video/Mulitmedia. Well, I'll consider migrating back to RED HAT then.

Just download some apps u might need. not sure what there is out there, but if redhat works good for u than use it and get what apps u want.
