It's been posted beofre but is still the single greatest source of information against Microsoft I have ever read (half way through)!  I e-mailed the author about it and he gave me this:

Hey Engineer that is a very good article. It's detailed, in-depth and definately newbie focused. It could do with a few minor updates, but it certainly explains lots of basics, about computers as well as Linux. I'm going to take a note of that one. Maybe the FAQ should link to it?
