I have the SUSE 8.0 live... I can't imagine the 8.1 being too much different. But if it anything along the lines of 8.0 i'd say go for it, it's great for taking to a friend's house who doesn't want to reformat and showing them linux. Of course then they want to install it... Whenever you can get it tell me what you think.
