So what would make Linux fly?
« on: 10 July 2002, 05:52 »
Just for the record. I am a RedHat-Mandrake-Win98 user (am learning assembly and am using WIN98 as a starting point and yeah I like Operation Flashpoint  :D  ). Anyway.

Most people are not very clever when it comes to computers because they are just too stupid or because of their work, they dont have too. So they stick with Windows. All GUI,click, bam boum, they have their applications installed.

So what would make Linux fly?

An EVEN more friendly version of Linux?

An agressive advertisment so people would hear Linux so many times it would not scare them any more?

Big Game companies porting more of their games for Linux thus bringing in the younger audience?

Computer companies taking action and introducing even more  Home PCs with Linux?

well thats about i ca think of now.
Yeah

The only thing that Linux lacks that M$ has is a mass marketing machine.  If it had that, the developers would come along with the apps, companies would sell Linux preinstalled, it would take over.

However, the mass marketing machine is one of the biggest reasons I hate M$ so I can certainly live without it. Even if that means Linux will never become the dominant "desktop" OS. Linux serves my needs, the needs of my family, the needs of my company, and the needs of my customers just fine.

oh i think soon windows will end up having big troubles, because they are doing what IBM was doing. Screwing everybody around.
And Linux has been out there way too long to go away. Its like a city under siege but its citizens just close their eyes hoping it will go away.
Yeah
