Can you install programs from other Distros to one Distro?

Example. Lets say that I have REDHAT or FreeBSD, and I want to install programs/utilities that are in my Mandrake Cds.
Can i install them to RedHat or in my FreeBSD partition? Or vise Versa.

you could try .... but it's not advisable. The binaries would work in all probability, but most distributions have their own way of putting files in specific locations .... you could allways compile from source
