Wheel mouse in linux
« on: 30 October 2002, 03:35 »
As some of you know i just installed Suse 8.1.

I am having an issue with my mouse, it will not scroll at all.  If i go to YAST2 and test it there it does work but only then and then sometimes for that current session.

I have edited my XF86Config file with the line: "option ZAxis 4 5" or something like that cannot remember cleary but i did type it right anyway.

Done those things and the mouse still isn't working.
Any suggestions

Is your mouse protocol set as PS/2 or IMPS/2?

It needs to be IMPS/2.

In the config file it is set as PS/2 not IMPS/2.

Should i edit it again and correct the line?

Could you also tell me what is IMPS/2 as well please.

It needs to be IMPS/2 so, yes, go ahead and edit the file.

IMPS/2 is the normal PS/2 protocol, plus wheel support protocols.  I believe it stands for IntelliMouse PS/2, since MS developed the wheel mice protocols for their IntelliMouse line, but I'm not 100% sure.

The ZAXIS line, which you already put in, is also needed.
