Since I don't know who's FAQ this is, I thought that I would post it here in hope of it being added (not everyone uses Mandrake/Red Hat/SuSE with autoconfig.)
To add srcoll-mouse capabilities, simply add this to your XF86Config file's Core Pointer's section, below the Option "Device" "/dev/psaux" line (assuming your mouse is on the auxillary port) in/etc/X11/XF86Config-4 (Debian...and YES they are case sensative...if you are using another distro, chime in, and provide the location of the XF86Config file so others can use their mice.)
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
This is relevant to X Windows version 4+. If you are using an earlier version of X, I suggest you check out
this page] this page Three lines above your newly added line, you will see an "Option" Protocol....line. Change it from PS/2 (you should have used PS/2 protocol unless your kernel install IMPLICITLY suggested that you don't ((it will have modules, and you would have built them)))to IMPS/2. This is, of course, if you didn't set up X with chordmiddle, and emulate 3 buttons. (No big deal....if you did, just run /usr/X11R6/bin/xf86config..as root, and reconfigure everything to adhere to the above mentioned.)
This will all be clarified (hopefully) in the FAQ.
...........
And someone please move this to the lunix setcion....and correct any mistakes I made...
