Distro upgrade question
« on: 31 January 2003, 02:58 »
Say in 6 months or so Red hat 9 comes out and I want to use it.

I tweaked my RH8 install pretty much, could I just do a distro upgrade with the RH9 cd's or would that "reset" every of my tweaks/modifications to defaults?

Is it possible to do such an upgrade with apt-get, I guess not because all the repositories are in specific distro directories?
Or would I just have to do a complete re-install and tweak everything from scratch again?

I didn't have to reset much when I ran the RedHat upgrade option.  This was from 6.2 to 7.1.

As I understand it, the "upgrade" option pretty much uses the RPM upgrade mode.

What answers the Redhat support team to that ?
Did you ask them as well ?
