so my VMware project didnt quite turn out the way i wanted it to. the installation quit with an "error 02" some file it was trying to decompressed was already decompressed and something....so...i installed VMware on my bullshit win machine and tried to install slackware, but it cannot access the drive to partition the virtual drive, any thoughts..?

The installation of VMware quit with an error of 2? Do you mean you got this error when running the "vmware-config.pl" script? If so it would be nice to see some output leading up to and including the error. Also VMware has an excellent news server, it would be likely that you will find your answers there:

sweet ill check out the news group, but yes it errored on the config.pl...

If you post more details I might be able to help you out. Like what distro and version, whether you have your kernel-source installed etc. And then paste in a copy of the error and several lines before it (like about 20-30 lines).

im doing vmware from my windows machine and redhat 8 is installed and the x display works but my keyboard and mouse dont work...im gonna install slack ware on my other machines just to play with it and learn it.
