Double boot n00b!

Hey guys I just got my new 80gb hard drive. Of course windows xp is a b1tch so it will not let me just move it to the new drive. I am going to do a full install of windows xp (I have programs that run only on windows, and I would hate to see my wife use linux, lol)on the 80gb, and use the 30gb drive to put Mandrake Linux on (yeah, this will be for me). My question is how do I go about this, so that I get the screen to choice OS? Keep in mind this will be my first attempt at a double boot. Also, I want to say I will be using ntsf partition on xp even though mandrake will not read the M$ only system. If XP messes with me I will erase it's a$$, so no need to fix it with linux. Also before I install mandrake is there anything that this linux n00b need to know?

Firstly Linux cannot resize NTFS partitions, therefore be sure of how big you want each partition to be before you begin the OS installations. Unless of course you install Xp on a FAT partition.

Ok the problem was Linux would not put a file onto my NTFS partition for xp. Thank god someone at the tech forums had a solution for me. In the intrest of someone else searching for this information here is a link:

The information is on windows 2000, but works great with XP!

I did the same thing only I used grub (works as well as LILO in case you were wondering) and I followed someone's instructions from Linuxnewbie.org  although they weren't quite as detailed as those you posted the worked nonetheless. I can boot to either Windows or Linux from either HD now

Install XP first on a FAT partition preferrablty so you can share files b/t your Linux and Windows installations.

Then, you can use GRUB or LILO when you install Mandrake.  All that shouldn't be a problem.
