safe removal

I want to remove mandrake 10 from my computer without screwing it up...but last time I did a simmilar operation I gorked the bootloaded and couldn't access either of the other OSs on the machine...so how do I safely uninstall the OS without doing this? (ie remove LiLo safely and still be able to use windows until I figure out how to make mepis run on this one)

Yes, boot the windows recovery console and

format /mbr
then:
fixmbr

Actually w/ the Win2k Recovery Console you should be able to issue the FIXMBR command to fix the master boot record so that it only boots windoze.  You should do this after deleting the appropriate partitions.

it's winXP I'm trying to not break...and I don't exactly uhm "have a disk" but last time I tried this...It was completely dead

Haha, no  

Just insert the Windows XP installation CD-ROM, and at the beginning, select something like that sounds like console. From there, just type "FIXBOOT" or "FIXMBR".

format /mbr
should always bring you to the defaults of the the system you're using.
