do I need to pass any extra parameters to cdrecord to burn a 700MB ISO? I have made 2 coasters already  :(
Contains scenes of mild peril.

you should just be doing something like
cdrecord -v speed=8 dev=0,0,0 -data isofile

May be a stupid question but do you have 700MB CDs? And have you verified the image (can you mount it)?
