Extra Window Servers
« on: 14 April 2003, 03:03 »
On my RH9 system I use screen :0 for local use.  However, I use my comp over the internet a lot.  I have found a way to make VNC start up on screen :1.  I just wanted to know if having the 2 screens and 2 different desktops of gnome open would be a big performance hit for local use?  My comp is an athlon X 2100+ (1.7GHz) with 512MB RAM.  Would it be a noticable hit.  If so, I would most likely set it up so I could ssh to it and start the server manually.  Thanks for any help you can give me.

I don't notice it on a 433MHz Celeron with 192 mb of RAM, so the answer is "no, it won't eat up your computer's resources".
