anybody ever use ksirc?
« on: 21 January 2003, 21:10 »
i need (big shock) a little help. when ever i try to connect it says "bad file descripter". anyone know how to fix this. i've already read the whole help file on ksirc, and checked all the preferences for something that might have anything to do with that. so if anyone can offer up any suggestions, i'd appreciate it.
Dr kelso; Didn't you get my memo about looking professional, and whereing your lab coat at all times?

Dr. Cox; well you know what? i did...and i threw it away. But then i didn't feel like that was a strong enough gesture so i erected a life like figure of you out of straw, put my lab coat on it, put your memo in the pocket, and invited all the local neighborhood children to light it on fire and beat it with sticks!

heard it on Scrubs, quite possibly the funniest show on tv

if you don't have a problem switching clients, i recommend kvirc; it has a nicer interface.

I get the error too, it's not ksirc; it's dal.net; i can't connecto to any of the servers with kvirc either.

quote:

Trying next server in the current network: traced.de.eu.dal.net
New connect attempt in 5 seconds: hit the 'connect' button to abort.
Attempting connection to traced.de.eu.dal.net (dalnet) on port 6664
Looking up server hostname...
Server real hostname is please-connect-by-server-name.dal.net
Server primary alias is traced.de.eu.dal.net
Server secondary alias is irc.eu.dal.net
Server hostname resolved to 255.255.255.255
Connection in progress...
[Socket error] : Network is unreachable
Connection attempt failed (please-connect-by-server-name.dal.net)

ksirc works fine for the other non-dalnet servers i have tried....

sorry bro  :( .

Dal Net

DDoS Attacks - Information for Users of DALnet.

DALnet is presently suffering extensive and prolonged Distributed Denial of Service attacks against our IRC servers, Web server, mail servers and DNS systems. These attacks are causing great inconvenience and financial loss to many of the organizations that host our services, as such some of them have suspended or discontinued their support of DALnet. DALnet would like to extend our thanks to all those who sponsored servers, we are grateful for the support you have provided us during what are difficult times. Users may also find it difficult to access our websites or send mail to @dal.net addresses due to attacks on the web, mail and DNS servers.

i like ksirc's interface better.

anyhoo, i'm not trying to connect to dalnet servers, though, so can you think of any other reasons why i would be getting this error?
