Problems Installing SuSE 8.2 Pro

After YaST installs the first CD of packages and restarts. The installation will not boot. The kernel messages say that it cannot find keymap,us and to run reiserfsck.

I've run resiserfsck on all my partitions a couple of times, but it still comes up with the same error messages. I have reinstalled close to 3 times and have had the same results each time.

When running fdisk -l, I get the following message after my first HD partitions are displayed. If this helps at all:

Partition table entries are not in disk order

Does anyone know what is going on?

Yeah I had that too.  Mandrake tried to automatically play with my partitions - I had specified an order I wanted with fdisk but Mandrake "knew better."  I think theres an fdisk option to fix that, but I dont have man fdisk in front of me.

Oh yeah go make some back ups of all your stuff first.  Just in case.

That doesn't sound to good.  One of the reasons I haven't switched to redhat yet is because im not sure how the instalation would go.

Yeah, I may have to repartition it.  Anyway, I'll probably back up all the stuff and redo the partition tables.  I've been beta testing the new RH, and I'm not sure whether or not it is at fault or not.

RH installations are usually straightforward, at least the stable ones.  I've never had any problems with the stable installations.

Use the edit post function instead and you avoid flood control.

It should only be a problem if you enjoy playing around with fdisk like I do - even so I've only seen it once, and if you back up theres no problem anyway.
