KDE help problem
« on: 23 July 2002, 02:28 »
A while ago I (well, a friend) downloaded the KDE 3.0 source, and installed it. It didn't go too well (I accidentally deleted KDE 2.1 in the process    ), but I got it up in the end (after using Gnome to hand-edit the X11 startup-config-files).

Unfortunatly, something went wrong. The help system didn't work. I can't read a single KDE help file. It says

quote:

An error occured while loading help:/khelpcenter/index.html?anchor=welcome:

Could not start process Unable to create io-slave:
klauncher said: Unknown protocol 'help'.

Does anyone know why this occurs, and (more important) how you solve it (other than doing a reinstall - that's windows-mentality).

We take a measurement, the wavefunction will collapse, and one of the bottles of beer will fall
