Copy and Paste
« on: 23 March 2002, 12:34 »
Ok so I'm wondering why copy and paste doesn't seam to work very well in SuSE 7.3 (oops not 7.2) like I had previously said and was rightfully corrected :).

Example:  I copy something out of netscape and after open/close of a few different programs the info I had copied isn't on the "clipboard" is that what linux calls it?

The only thought I could come up with is that some programs are written to use the "clipboard" and overwrite the information that I had put in there.

I'm just courious...

Thanks

Different window managers have different ways of copy/paste and apps written for them use different methods. One method that should work in *any* app under Xwindows is to:

1) hilite the text in the source app window
2) click both L+R mouse buttons at the same time in the destination app window
Someone please remove this account. Thanks...

also, you have a nice program that is with KDE called Klipboard or whatever that should by default be on your panel by your clock... anythign you copy from a program should go there, so you can go there to re-copy it to paste it into a new program.
