Unified Linux?

Read this. I'm posting this topic because the article concerned could be directly related to the "Linux Standard Base" thread I opened some days ago. Since I couldn't get through to some of you guys and especially to Calum, this article describes what I wanted to say much better.  ;)

What I don't like about it is most of the news sites are making it sound like they are "ganging up on RedHat".  Which I don't believe is the case and I hope is not the case as Linux does not need this. And even if it were I don't believe that the four parties involved, even together will be much better than what SuSe is now (I don't really like any of the 4 distros that are mentioned for many different reasons).  But we'll wait and see....

that 'ganging up' stuff is all just newspaper sensationalism though, isn't it? i suppose there are such times when news can be a very bad thing for linux.

Some would have us believe that linux is an unstoppable phenomenon, others would warn us that the slightest gust of wind could bring it all crashing down...

Hmm, I think you guys are right. What Linux doesn't need or will ever need is competition among the different vendors. Anyway, the news guys are always exagerrating.

P.S: What the fuck is that Windows XP loser doing in the UNIX/Linux section of the forums? He's not trying to change our minds about using Linux, is he? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA AHAH AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. You're really hopeless. Please try to learn the difference between an "os" and an OS.

I hope all the Linux distro's don't try to beat each other out... they all "make" Linux. (I know they don't literally make Linux, but you get the idea)
