Sound probs in the new kernel

Hey, i downloaded and compiled the 2.4.19 stock kernel and everything is great but sound wont work. i get some error. It must be the new kernel cos sound works fine and dandy in windows.
I cant boot to the old kernel cos for some reason it just boots the new one. im gettin red hat 8 tomorrow so if its too much trouble ill live without sound for a night but any suggestions are sure welcome.

I would opt to hold of for RH8. I'm too damn tired to do this stuff tonight.

Shouldn't be a problem unless I kick off before your RedHat comes in. And if I do, there's plenty of others here more than capable of helping you out.

Let's put it this way. If you were to drill a hole through your floor to the center of the earth, then keep on going until you came out the other side your drill would probably come through my floor.

That would be a great idea except for the 15000+ degrees celcius solid iron core at the centre of the earth, that would be a bit hard to get around.

That's why you have to do it "really quickly" so your drill bit doesn't melt.

"were livin' on solid rock, standing on, sacred ground, living on, borrowed time and the way could change, further down the line"

yes i know it, it was released by Goanna in 1982 and was a big hit in australia, despite the fact that many australians obviously have no concept of what the lyrics mean even if they do know them.
and i know i sound like a cocky smartarse here, so i deeply apologise since that's not how it's intended, but it's 'the winds of change are blowin' down the line'.
