Okay, it's time to get this stuff learnt. So to basics.
CD eject seems to be very strange. When I had RH7.3 on the cd draw would eject once, and then after closing it would not open again until I logged off. Mandrake is very slow in ejecting CDs.
I am trying to play some MP3s and some CDs(normal purchased type) using XMMS. Unfortunately it does not see the CDs, and hence I cannot play them.
I have a matsushita DVD/CDROM and a teac CDRW. The recognition of CD and using CDs seems to be related to some interaction with the two drives. Does anyone else have a problem running two drives? I am currently running Mandrake 8.2 (because RH cannot use the network adapter). Oh and, before you ask, this is the fire system. I watched Life of Brian on DVD on it last night using XINE, so it seems to work alright there. XINE does not work on the CD.
Should XMMS run 'out of the box'?
Does Linux handle Drives differently in comparison to others OSs.
I will soon be trying a few things out, but I thought I would float this here first.
