Do you really want to start something when KDE starts, that is when you actually log in?  Or do you want to start something when X/KDM starts, that is before you log in?  Are these apps that you want to start X/KDE or non-graphical apps?

If really mean what you say and want to start something when KDE starts (when you log in) then there are at least a couple of ways.  Put the apps in your "Autostart" would be one way, or thoughtfully adding them to the /usr/bin/startkde script would be another way.

klipper is started as a KDE system wide panel app (it should show up on your panel). To remove that system wide just remove the /usr/share/autostart/klipper.desktop file (or move it to another location in case you want to put it back later).

Hi guys -
not trying to intercept the thread but
I have a similiar problem.

Whenever I start KDE or Gnome for that matter
there are spurios copies of "floppy" and "cdrom"
on the desktop as "fd0" and "scd0".

I've tried allover trying to get rid of it,
and I make sure to "save" the settings when I sign-off - and then - poof they're back.
Haven't figured this one out yet - and not really trying as I usually forget - thinking I'll do it next time round.

Methinks there's a green gnome living in there
that's fooling with the desktops :(
or maybe a mutated winblose worm thats lost?

Tx in advance
