Which of these (you can choose more than one as a requirement) would make you switch over?

a. Adobe writes photoshop 8 in qt and ports it to Linux
b. Apple announces that future Macintoshes will use Palladium
c. Blizzard announces it will start supporting Linux in all its upcoming games
d. The core of openoffice is ported to qt/gtk, integrating with GNOME/KDE and sped up immensely
e. The GIMP gets a UI rewrite by Apple engineers
f. Macromedia releases flash and dreamweaver for Linux

edit: I noticed I posted this in the lounge, feel free to move it if you think it belongs in the Linux forum...

b would make me shelve permanently any dreams i may have of one day affording a macintosh, d would make me consider buying staroffice instead, because i can't stand all this desktop integration crap (yes, yes i know, but let's not get into it).

and a and f would be very good, and would definitely be a little nudge to a lot of people who i know who don't use linux already.

i'd like to see apple release quicktime (possibly using Qt?) for linux. It could be called QtQT!  :D
of course, they've missed the boat what with mplayer and all, but it would be significant to windoids.

and your comments about gimp are spot on. although gimp is great in my opinion, i get the feeling that all those people who say it's not as developed as photoshop are just pissed off about the user interface. get over it i say, but if they need some smooth GUI and somebody wants to put in the time then go for it i say.

B, but C would be a pretty good reason too.

Unfortunatly I haven't tried Linux yet, but I'm going to try Yellow Dog as soon as I can get version 3.0.

100% support for games would be the catch for me.

Are you sure about that? I checked Macromedia.com and theres no official Linux release of Mandrake. I searched google and all i could find was a 'petition to get dreamweaver on linux' :/

A shame, 'cos i need DreamWeaver for my job.

IMO all Macromedia products should be ported to *nix, especially shockwave!

Windows [n.]
A thirty-two bit extension and GUI shell to a sixteen bit patch to an eight bit operating system originally coded for a four bit microprocessor and sold by a two-bit company that can't stand one bit of competition.

The situations listed were hypothetical. Dreamweaver is only on the Windows and Mac platforms currently.

badass, why not write an email to macromedia telling them you think their stuff should be ported to linux, i know there is already a sizeable campaign going on sending them emails to this effect. the more people send them emails the faster they will take the hint.

none of the above

just westwood (EA now) saying they will port their RTS games to Linux. Then I wouldn't even dual boot (like I do at the moment to play cnc generals)

Tip for win98 (l)users: type copy /con/con in your command prompt to increase stability

That or having truly awesome Windows and DOS emulation programs(including being able to emulate older DOS titles better than Windows can). I actually tend to play not-so modern and somewhat old stuff because my system doesn't like it when I play modern stuff.

I still dabble with Linux nonetheless though.
