Local headers

I have a shell account on my webserver, but it's not root. I need to install a program, but it requires a few librarys I don't have. I downloaded the packages and unarchived them in their own little seperate directories. What I need to know is can I tell the configuration script where the library resides?

Nevermind, found it. I should really read (or reread in this case) the manual before I post.
