Help!!!!
« on: 17 October 2003, 02:27 »
Here's the story, at my school the IT director is using win2k right now for their routeing dns server.
She said she wants to try Linux now since the 2k server is giving her problems. I offered to install
Mandrake Linux 9.1 for her and now she wants me to teach her how to use it. So what I want to know is whats the best program to use for the dns server and how to set it up.

Thanks in advanced!

good ol' www.tldp.org  I know at my school our admin uses NT4, I have offered to help her switch to Linux but she is afraid because she has never used Linux before.  I imagine when worst comes to worst (and with windows you know it will) she will come back and switch to Linux.
 here ya go

do you mind me asking where you go to school?

Thanks for the help I didnt think anyone was going to reply   :D

I'm going to Laurel Business Institute, It's a technical school which really needs more Linux.
What sucks though is when I first started I put a suggestion in for a Linux class, now it's almost time for me to graduate and I find out that next year they are going to start teaching Linux   :(
Guess I just have to keep learning on my own.

well, i would guess that if they are just *starting* to teach linux, they would only have basics at first untill all the proffessors know enough about the envirnment to go further. if you are helping your IT director, something tells me that you already know more than what they would teach.

why do they only teach "Linux"?

why don't they just teach "UNIX" and then all bases are covered?

oh, btw... NT4 is the 2nd most badass version of windows ever. fucking fast as hell
