And as for the issue of piracy, well ... I think piracy doesn't hurt the software industry as much as the software corporations try to let us think it does. If this was the case they all would have gone out of bussiness by now
In my experience, people who pirate software are either very young (and without any (or at least very little) means of actually buying software who depend on their parents to buy it for them) or are the "try before you buy" types. What is left are the real die hard pirates who never buy any software (these are by coincidence (again, in my experience) the only people who actually sell the pirated material and make money out of it)
Personally, I am in the "try before you buy" category (but not too long ago, while still in college, I was of the "hopelessly poor type"
)
To get back to the original subject, binary newsgroups suck (especially for cd images, which get cut up in 6000 pieces orso) IRC and/or FTP boards are a lot better imho.
