Problem Installing FreeBSD 5.2.1
« on: 20 March 2004, 17:26 »
Well, I decided to install the newest version of FreeBSD on my 366mhz PC today. It booted up just fine, and I was able to partition my hard drive correctly and everything looked good until I made it to the menu where you choose where you want to install from.

I chose the option that says CD/DVD and it suddenly can't detect my cdrom. Odd. If the cdrom didn't work, I wouldn't be able to boot from it. Anyway, I looked through everything and tried several times and it still won't work. Anyone have any ideas?

FreeBSD 5.x = buggy

I'm not sure which 5.x release is less buggy, but you're still better off with 4.9 IMO.

WMD is right, especially FreeBSD 5.2 / 5.2.1. I had ranted about that particular version before, it's VERY buggy even for a 5.x.

Your problem is probably a very new bug in sysinstall. Maybe you should try a net install instead.

Net install isn't possible, no internet connection for this pc. I guess I will download 4.9 instead and see if it is working.
