Moving from Windows 98 to Linux to get rid of crashes is like moving from Kansas to San Francisco to get rid of earthquakes.

MichaelSoft, congratulations, you have just taken a step into a larger world.

69waluigi69, either you have never used Linux and and don't know what the fuck you are talking about, which would it very very stupid to post what you did, or you are here intentionally trying to piss people, or both, which would also make you a very stupid and immature person.  Go away.

Or maybe more like fighting a war with sticks and stones instead of nukes. In case you're colorblind it says at the top of the page "fuckMicrosoft.com", not "Be a Fucking Idiot, Post Lies, and Worship Bill Gates".

Not quite. It's gotten better. I'm now running it in a terminal and with no uptime client. That linup one is so damned screwed.  :(  So at the moment the 98 had an average uptime of 20-30 days, and so far Linux has an average of 3-12 hours.

It's been serving files just fine, but if I try to just log in it'll just sit there. That, and I still need to get the FTP server to work.

Proof positive that the best linux system can be taken down by a bad admin.

Wow,

I am utterly offended by what 69waluigi69
just said.  He is such a dumb ass.  Mostly b/c i hate stupid people, someone needs to take him out of the gene pool.

Congrats Matt, Linux has yet saved another from the darkside.  If you value stability, then you should be more than satisfied w/ Linux.  I'll be glad to help any newbie out.  Mostly b/c you have to get them to try it b4 you get them hooked.
