I always said that there're too much Linux distributions.

It's better if everyone combined their skills and worked on a mainstream distro like Debian, Fedora, Slackware, Mandrake, etc. instead of making a buck while working on shit distro's like Libranet and Vector Linux, which are lame spin-offs of Debian and Slackware.

I agree with refalm.  TO many distro's.  People should just help with the popular one's.

They only took into consideration registered users, I think.

But yeah, otherwise I agree with refalm too.

Well, GNU/Linux IS Free Software, so anyone can 'take' GPL'd code and, 'blend' everything and make a GNU/Linux distro. This is the meaning of Free Software.

I too agree however that there are a lot of GNU/Linux distros, but what can one do? It is all about choice isn't it?   ;)

i think it's good to have distros that are designed to be (from the outset) a fully functional desktop system, but at the same time, be fairly small, and suited to slower computers. i know you can just tweak the bigger distros so that they work, but most (non-geek)people are too lazy to do that...
another bonus of a one cd distro is that for a dialup user, it only takes about 3 nights do download

maybe there is too much choice, but you get that when you let people do what they want with the code. it's both a good and a bad thing. no system is perfect, but i think open source has many pros and only a few cons...
