That ought to be a red-letter day for an MS-lover; Lindows is so far up Bill Gates ass, they can give you a list of what he's eaten for the last 2 months.
If you want a computer with a REAL Linux OS installed, go to http://www.carbonlinux.com
No bullshit Lindows on those puppies, and the price is just as good as WalMart.

Lindows repulses me; it tries to be just like Windows (just look at this screenshot, and, if you must run Windows apps, why not use Windows?  Don't imitate MS; that's just sick; they should at LEAST try to make something original.  Besides, a real MS-killing OS would be called something more appropriate, like Curtains.  Lindows will cost 100 bucks when it comes out.  Hardly "free software," huh?

Well, at least it gives me something to laugh at.

It's pretty good for people willing to try Linux and still run Windows applications without installing the supposedly hard-to-install Wine.

Lindows is a great product that will hopefully let's people diss Windows and try Linux.
Just look at Wall-mart, they have Lindows OS already installed standard because they know that Lindows OS is maybe going to overrule Windows XP.
I hope everyone will switch to Lindows OS so that developers of games start working on making games, applications and stuff compatible with Linux, and that's where the interesting stuff will come.
If the 3rd party developers will say that their products are compatible only with Lindows OS (as they done before with other OS's) then their will always be the open source of Lindows OS that will let some coders make patches to run Lindows OS software run on normal Linux too.

lindows, while an improvement over windows. still isn't as good as mac osx or someother version of linux like redhat. however, it is aimed at extreme linux n00bs so im probably talking out of my ass /*i enjoy typing endless commands on a terminal just to make something work*/. from what i have heard. lindows does not recommend a non root acount for everything other then configureation. hmmm, seems to me that virus's can only kill a *nix system when it is rooted, which is the default on lindows. however, lindows i guess would be more geared towards people who really don't want to learn much when they turn there computer on, they just want to use. and don't try to tell me windows is easy to use. you have to be an expert at reinstalling and reconfigureing it.

No, a REAL WIN-killer would be called Debian, but of course a WINloser woundn't know anything about that (BTW; Debian IS free; and STABLE;  Why would ANYONE pay $149.95 for a system that's designed to crash?  I'm talking about WINXP!)

Well, actually Lindows is based on Debian. The main problems I have with it are: the Lindows folks have been playing fast and loose with the GPL in that they are refusing to release the source code of whatever mods they've made. Secondly, I wonder if Lindows doesn't promise more than it can deliver. There are some M$ apps that won't run on WINE just yet. Lindows could be setting up a lot of folks out there who will try it, find that their favorite game or whatever won't work, and they'll get disgusted and figure Linux just plain SUX. Not a good thing. It would have been better if Wal-Mart offered pre-installs of Lycoris, or Icepack. These offer the same ease of use, their developers are complying with the GPL, and they don't promise more than they can deliver.

hey, this the best thing xpiss has done yet/*ever???*/, he helped me name my soon to be linux distro. nevermind that he talks out of his ass owell. lindows is a good idea, but it still needs alittle help. and about him saying that X11 has problems, yes it has a few like the mozilla font crash but other then that it is great. try to get windows to let you get around BESS huh, it is not perfect, nothing is but it is better then windows could ever do/*please tell me that   MS-UX   will never come to be*/. if you are so concernded about it get off yer ass and fix it yourself, thats why the source is open.

With you Linux geeks it's always about Debian huh?  Sorry, but I don't have time to set up that confounded OS; just standing 2 minutes in #debian at irc.openprojects.net shows how much trouble people have with it.  Debian doesn't even have KDE 3 included (woody won't either, you'll have to wait a year and a half for sid to come out, haahh)

PS what is this crap about Windows XP crashing?  That's never happened to me.
