I am currently located in Hollywood, CA, USA, and the biggest (and probably most intruiging) conversation that erupts on "cocktail night" around here, is the topic of open-source software. People here can't belive that 'tools' to do your job should be free. It is kind of like being a construction worker, or a police officer....your tools should be tax deductible, and should be at a minimum of expense.
I've seen Movie-Magic, and a couple of other Window$ programs that give the (L)user the capabilities to take anything that is in their head, and make a movable script come to its life. What I have yet to find (after hours of searching Google) is a program that allows these people to do their thing, without the expenses of licensing fees, bullshit, and the conglatoramy that the M$ world has embedded into these peoples' brains.
Just for the sake of argument (of which I win 98% of the time), I'd like to help out some of these people, prove them wrong (yet again), and fan the flames. If we (the BSD/*Nix) the community, have a good piece of software to offer, its impact would be enourmous. It would then offer me the opporunity to Linuxize (my new word) a bunch of people that have credible American influence. Just like George Jung said: "Once it is accepted by actors and musicians, everyone else will fall into place."
