PIPEX Broadband on mandrake linux 10.0
« on: 4 May 2004, 02:31 »
I have recently migrated from windows xp pro corp only, to a dual boot system with mandrake linux 10.0 retail.
Im finding that i can use all the preinstalled programs with minimal difficulty but updated drivers and installing new software is proving difficult.
My main concern is how to get my broadband internet to work on linux. I have an alcatel speedtouch usb modem and pipex isp.
Can anyone help me get over this hurdle as i am continually told im in a queue when i try and ring for technical assistance at pipex.
Cheers.

There's indeed a Linux driver for the Speedtouch USB.  I'm not sure, but I think if you go to Network setup in MCC, you can choose a USB connection and there should be a driver there (after all, it's been shipped standard with the kernel for years).

Check this:

Also, don't forget to load the firmware onto the modem. LINK
(You need the mgmt.o file from within this)
