Do any of the 3 big linux providers support hyper-threading on a p4? I need to know to help me know what I should buy for my new system.    thx

Yes they support it, I though HT support was first in Linux anyway????

My advice, I know it's a cliche but Google it, make sure first:

I didn't think XP supported it at all, seeing as there's no *real* updates to it.

why don't you get a dual G4 system and run Yellow Dog? real processors, and there's really two of them.

there's no substitute for having two real processors. especially when it's one shitty processor pretending badly to do SMP

You gunna get flamed bad now.  
You could always get a sixteen processor jobbie going but that would be expensive.  As before my advice is to google for Linux+"3.06 ghz"

Why pay an arm and a leg for a 3.06? Im getting a 2.4 and OC'in to a 3.0 for 170$.
