Hi.
Back from the isle of UK after 3 weeks.
The battery pack in my laptop expired
ie. something blew (I heard it!).
Now seeing as the battery doesn't work anymore
and I ain't able to replace it (yet).
Redhat boots - then sees a flat battery and
shuts the machine down - after lotsa beeps.
If I unplug the battery it works fine.
Hmm sorry - RH 7.3!!
I can't seem te find the code that checks the
battery pack on startup.
Any ideas on where to look/what to look for?
It's not major - more a pain in the butt to
remove the pack (which I tend to forget) before
booting Linux.
Tx in advance.
PS. The battery pack had about 3 hours left when
it went bang!. Sounded like a diode or some
such that blew. Can it be repaired - or do I
have to replace it - and these things are
expensive - even repacking is a lot of money!
