for those of you who want to use linux or something but can't because of various apps that aren't supported (for me it's psycle, a music programme) - the next best thing is a shell replcaement    - ive got a blackbox clone on my puter, and it looks great    (good speed aswell, though my puter runs win98 pretty fast anyway.. so i dont know if i'd notice the difference)

at least let's see some screenshots!

btw, this belongs in the windows forums, since this isn't about a "non-mainstream OS", but instead is about Windows

I think I know what you're talking about. I'm a "making-Windows-useable" expert.
The most stable Windows I can think of is Windows 95 OSR2 (or 2000, but that has IE integrated) with Litestep ( http://www.litestep.com/ ).

It looks NeXT-like, and it's highly configurable.

I don't like Windows or OS X cause of the many apps that aren't supported.

there you go. - you can use heaps of different 'styles' - it's really great to work with...
for some reason, it doesn't want to show the image, so i just put the url up...
yeah, what was i thinking posting this in the 'not quite mainstream os's" forum.... oh well

You may want to consider hosting the screenshot elsewhere... Geocities really hates having their bandwidth stolen. I recommend http://www.photobucket.com

It's very difficult you know. Once you thought you tweaked it right, Windows screws up again.

* Sigh * Why did I even try? GNU/Linux is better anyway.

Could you repeat in clear understandable English what exactly you're asking?

I'm not that good at English you see...

he means "there's this one app" that's mission critical to him.

my suggestion:

TEH DUAL BOOTE WITH TEH LUNIX AEND TEH WNIDOWSE!!!!!11111LOLOLOLOLOL

you can run Linux when you want to, and then flip back over to Windows (flip over the proverbial barrier like you were some kinda ninja, that is!) to run that app.

while you're in Linux, you can install Wine (which is not an acrconym for ANYTHING AT ALL) and try to get that windows app running!

If you mean Psycle, it's GPL and people are already building a Linux client.(be patient)

Also try GLAME, it's not very different.(Tries to become The Gimp equivalent for sound)
