I have tried to get my Lucent Winmodem to work in Linux several of times(each attempt was unsuccessful). Well, I bought an external modem today and it actually works in Linux.
Now I can actually use the internet in Linux I may enjoy the OS more. I will say that I think that the fonts in Windows XP look better and I still like Windows more than I do Linux...but now I can play with Linux when I'm bored. I know this is a pointless post...this is just a victory post. ;P
Anywho, I'm going to see what kind of useful things I can find on the net for Linux now.
BTW, the external modem seems to perform so much better in Windows(and it doesn't use CPU cycles) so even if I decide to ditch Linux I still came out with a better modem.
For people looking to buy a good Linux compatible dial-up modem look no further than the "Actiontec External 56k modem (EX560LKA)". It works without a hitch in Linux, Windows and BeOS.
