Has anyone playd a DVD on their mac and tried to make a screenshot?

Well, you can't. The Apple+Shift+3 command don't work, neither does Grab. Grab tells you that screen capture functionality is diabled during DVD playback. Now, you and I both know this is bullshit. Cuz it works in OS 9, and there is no phisycal reason why copying the curent bytes in video RAM to a file should be that hard. Hell, I could whip something up in C in less than an hour. (which I think I will do!)

In any case, SnapzPro by ambrosia does great.

Now... why do you suppose Apple did this?

How on earth could capturing one stinking frame from a DVD be a bad thing?

If you capture a few hundred thousand or so stinking frames in a row you just got yourself a movie.  Of course I'll never have to put up with that.  :-P
Yesterday it worked
Today it is not working
Windows is like that

How is it any different than using a program to record MP3s? (Apple made a program like that too, but I forgot it's name)

It's not a copyright issue! It's actually a hardware issue

I was informed that since DVD's write directly to the screen and NOT THE VIDEO RAM, you can't capture the info by traditional means!

You need a special program called DVD capture. It's available on version tracker.

meh, Who knew?
