Nice macs typhoon.  I wish I had that many macs that were capable of running OSX.

Next week I am converting over to a Macintosh Quadra 650, 40MB RAM ,250MB HD (with a 1 GB external harddrive), Mac OS 8.0 (planning to upgrade to 8.1 once I receive it)

I know,I'm essentially setting myself back to the early days of net computing! LOL

I saw it on linuxiso.org and had to download it.

Doubtful! Darwin is a UNIX, and doesn't act at all like OS X. If you want something that acts like Mac OS, then find Rhapsody for x86.

Previous owner of an:

iBook 600 2002 model dual USB 384MB RAM 12" display

(R.I.P due to HD failure)

Current owner of an:

iBook G4 at 933MHz 14" display with 256MBs DDR RAM (soon to be maxed out to 640MBs)

and of course OS X.3.3

I also have an HP Pavilion laptop dual-booting Win 2k and SuSE Linux Pro 9.0, but this is a Macs only thread so...

You know, you can probably replace that HD and save your iBook.  A 600Mhz iBook that is out of comision only becuase of a dead HD seems like a waste to me.  If you do not want to get a new HD, then maybe you could give me the iBook if you do not need it anymore?

Ooops, I forgot to mention that it's been sold    At a minimal price, due to the HD failure, but it helped nonetheless to buy the new one.

I agree with you that it a 600MHz iBook is in no way out of commission because of an HD failure. I just wanted the new one so bad though that I couldn't resist. I had also saved a decent amount of money, so I decided to go for it  :D

LOL! Will do Jimmy. It's still very new and I haven't had much time to 'play' with it yet, but I will start experimenting (as usual) when I get the chance  :D

If you could get your hands on Rhapsody, it's REEEEALLLY nice. Better hardware support than OPENSTEP 4.3. Mac OS 8.5 style UI.

OPENSTEP 4.3 is also very good. Also easier to come by.

Both OSes have been growing in popularity of late.

Apple IIe with 10MB HD! and 2 (two) 128k Floppy Drives MOS Technologies 6502 1Mhz and 128k RAM!!!

Macintosh IIsi 68k 35Mhz

Centris 650 with CD-ROM! WOW! 68k 60Mhz

PowerMac 7500 PPC 601e 100Mhz

2 (two) Bondi Blue iMacs, G3 233Mhz Revision A.

A Rhasberry iMac, G3 333Mhz Revision B.

G4 400Mhz PowerBook

finaly:

a G4 Tower dual 800Mhz

You chipped your iisi and Centris? niiice.

I've thought about chipping my 840av and running it at 80MHz, since apparently the 040 that's in there will do it.
