Microsoft to reveal Longhorn to developers
« on: 27 August 2003, 05:31 »
http://news.com.com/2100-1016-5067243.html

By the way I've actually used a recent build of Longhorn. Windows Longhorn is the worst product that Microsoft has yet produced and calls an operating system. It consumes resources like no Windows before. The GUI is terrible and desperately slow. The registry is about 10 times more messed up and bigger than that of XP. The OS is full of garbage that nobody in their right mind needs. And if you use it you can see how MSN is slowly being integrated into the operating system, alongside IE.

I've disliked XP since I've first seen it and hated it even more from the moment I started using it. But after using Longhorn I must say I actually give some credit to XPee.
Fuck you Microsoft very much for the ugly, resource hogging, crappy, unsecure shit you produce and have the guts to call an OS. Fuck you very much.

I thought LongHorn was supposed to be the superduper palladiumified DRM windows of the future and wouldn't run on existing hardware.  Am I mistaken?

It will run on existing hardware, if the company of that product isn't broke or dead to make drivers for Longhorn. And they will do it, because I have the feeling that a lot of people are going to use Longhorn. No matter how crappy Microsoft makes it's products, people will use it.

Auzzie Humour, eh

I used to work with an older Australian man, nicest guy you could ever meet, but what a sicko.

Actually I'm pretty gross too, so it didn't REALLY bother me, but he was pretty far out.

If anyone got sick he would acuse them of sucking on too many Dog d@*ks

and would call his closest friends "D@*k Breath"

He used to say, what was later described to me as being a common Auzzie saying:

"Throbing like a sock full of Grass Hoppers"

I've certainly never heard that one, he must be Western Australian.  (They're just too rude for the rest of us civilized easterners.  Western Australians are scary.     )

Although I have heard "mining for vegemite" and other fairly strong sayings.     And of course when a lady goes past a construction site there's the world famous "show us your" (starts with t rhymes with nits.)  Ah builders.  Such finesse.

aussie slang is so good you can go years without hearing the same one twice!
and they're all gems, like:

"i'm as full as a state school" (after a meal)
or
"i'm off to choke a darkie" (before getting rid of the last meal you ate) - this one is specifically designed to offend as many people as possible as far as i can see.

I can't think of any others, but there's thousands.

I hadn't heard those ones either.  Is the rest of Australia mounting a conspiracy to keep me in the dark about Aussie slang or something?

State Schools are pretty full btw, it's what happens when the government spends 5 times as much per private school as they do on public schools.  Fucking wankers.     Im as mad as a frog in a sock?

When I first read the title of this thread, I understood it to mean "Microsoft to reveal Longhorn to its own developers". And I thought: "That's nice of them. The developers must have been wondering what they were working on all this time."

OK, so you had to be there, I suppose.
