ibook cdrom making noises...
heljy:
... when I place it on an uneven surface, sounds like the disc is grinding some part of the ibook :( And it only happen when the ibook is not laid on a flat surface.
Is that normal and will it damage the cdrom in anyway in the long run?
hm_murdock:
it could damage the disc. make sure that it's properly clicked into place
Pantso:
I'll repeat it once more: Are you sure it's clicked into place like Jimmy James wrote? If it is then you should have it checked. You can check it yourself by booting from the Apple Hardware test CD ROM? Do you have it?
heljy:
Yes, I am pretty sure that its clicked into place.
Its perfectly fine when I put it on a flat even surface, the noise comes up when I have on an uneven suface in such a way that the ibook is "twisted".
BTW, does the Apple Hardware test CDROM come with the ibook?
Pantso:
Well, it came with mine along with the Software Restore, Mac OS X, OS 9 and Applications disks. are you sure you don't have it?
