Gates is actually not to blame for the reasons why we all hate Microsoft; he's just a convenient target.

not true, for many years he was a selfish, ruthless capitalistic snotty little liar. That's just some of the reasons that M$ is what it is today though.

Nowadays Gates is to Microsoft what Tux the penguin is to Linux. It is easy to forget how he clawed his way to where he is now.
