I've got a Road Apple!

That could help out.

Anyways, the 52x0 only has a 40Mhz FSB, 1MB video RAM, 16-bit color at only 640x480 (256 at 832x634), and 2 DIMM slots.  Ugh.

For speed, try out OS 7.5.5 on it - it's on Apple's FTP.  However, JJ says newer versions help it out (whatever he means by that) - it can take up to 9.1, which can be upgraded to from the god-awful 9.0 (check Apple's site for those files too).

EDIT: How much RAM is in there?  7.5.5 can boot up inside 3MB, but 8.6 needs like 24.  Be careful.

newer OS versions solve many of the stability problems caused by the hardware. they include newer drivers, et cetera.

if you want a good old power mac, get the 7200/120. it rules

48 MB.

Claris:
And they say Macs are expensive.

Isn't that the model you can G3-upgrade through the most elaborate hack in the history of Macdom (i.e. the L2 cache processor card)?

Gah, PDS.
