choasforages:
how do i lock osx down, so the only thing they can use is illustrater, the finder and photoshop, and classic environemtn. and with classic, how do i set it up to keeps its desktop in the users directory

Master of Reality:
i know with linux i would probly just take out the taskbar and then put the programs i want them to be able to run on the desktop (and remove certain keyboard shortcuts).

Isnt the desktop already in the users home?

choasforages:
osx desktops is the users home, im talking about classics desktop, and i don't care if i need two installations of classic, i want to isolate these bastards as much as i can from the system, but i still have to let them use photoshop illustrator, and before you ask, these imps/*AKA freshmen*/ are know to look things up for the sole purpose of destruction/*choasforages vs. impish freshmen, 1 to 0 choasforages, so far atleast im winning*/ but when i tried using ACL i think, i would not let classic start up. and they need classic for their work

Master of Reality:
well... i'm out, my knowledge of macs goes up to OS7.1. My knowledge of UNIX is a bit higher

This is quite easy Chaos.

All you do is make a new user in the Accounts section of Systems Preferences.  You uncheck the box that allows for admin access for that user.  Then back in the main accounts screen where it lists the users you click on capablilties.  Check use simple finder and then check only allow user to use applications below.  You then check all the apps u want this user to be able to use.

Hope that is what you wanted Chaos
