Maybe you got that mixed up with the fact that IBM will be making Mac processors in the future.

Only an idiot would buy a Mac expecting to switch to any OS they want. Thats Apple's trademark: great hardware (well hopefully) and great software that was made for that hardware.

linux can run on a PPC, and so can BeOS. and i agree with the thing about 'why don't they make OSX available on other platforms'. they should, just not give support. i think apple are *far* too scared after the 'apple clone wars' of about five or ten years ago...

Macman : No, there are actually MANY sites with rumors about the x86 OS X (apparently dubbed 'Marklar'). Nothing substantiated, just pie-in-the-sky wishing.

At this point, considering the 970/GPuL/WhateverthefuckIBMcallsitnow is a reality, and IBM seems much more interested in chip production now, hopefully the Marklar stuff will die away, and be forgotten forever...
