for my upcoming course i think i need this:

i will not, if i have anything to say about it, ever allow windows to connect to the internet again. but then i notice this:

so.... i can either run a mac emulator in linux (looks like it's all beta stuff and will require a lot of downloading and tweaking stuff since i don't even have a macOS CD), or buy a second hand mac (which i have no money or space for). According to the site:

Check this out, this guy has four 233mhz g3s all of them are under $100 but all the auctions end in like an hour and a half.

Check this place out surplus village they actually have good buys on used pcs all the time. Some of the ones with scratches, or missing bezels are a steal!
I bought some 400mhz with dvd for $125 plus/ship.

They have an apple section tool...btw...

You can't run OS 8.5 on a 68k-based Macintosh. You'll have to either pick up a PowerPC + 8.5+ or figure out how to get a 68030 to run 8.5 (which is probably one hell of a hack!)

hmm, i was thinking about 50 pounds for a second hand mac, but if a quadra won't run 8.5, then i don't know really...
also, i don't know about paying for shipping from the states, i'd rather buy one in the UK...

ho hum, if i can get either a windows or a mac emulator to work in linux then i'll be set, but so far nothing, and i am loath to start yet another 'why won't wine work' thread...

as far as i can see, the required software runs in about 7 different versions of windows, and maybe 2 versions of macOS (of course only the windows versions are supported by the course).

There's no linux version of anything...

UNIX ain't trademarked, not really anyway. The point of my sig is that the only true UNIX is and was the origional one developed at bell labs (was it bell?) anyway, the origional from which all *NIX's came from. No current encarnation including BSD are actually true UNIX's.

So I thought it fitting to say that UNIX is more a state of mind than an OS. i.e. Open source, stability, all of those UNIX ideals that carry over to it's moddern variants.

Now that I have justified my sig. can you please get that stupidity off of yours.
